Shadow Minister for Regional Development
Shadow Minister for Tourism

Bob Baldwin was appointed the Shadow Minister for Regional Development and Shadow Minister for Tourism in September 2010.

He was previously the Parliamentary Secretary for Industry, Tourism and Resources from January 2006 to November 2007 as part of the previous Coalition Government. Between 2007 and 2010 Bob was an Opposition spokesperson in the defence portfolio.

Bob is passionate about Australia’s regional communities and their vital contribution to the nation. He has long been a proud advocate for regional issues. He has worked extensively with rural and regional stakeholders supporting local economies and jobs, including those in the beef, dairy, chicken, oyster farming and commercial fishing industries. He has also been successful in gaining telecommunications upgrades, extensive investment in regional roads, and additional public hospital beds - to name but a few. He firmly believes infrastructure is the building block on which communities thrive.

Prior to entering politics Bob owned a scuba diving and charter business on the East Coast of New South Wales. Bob understands the tourism sector, having been involved in it throughout his professional life. Bob has worked with tourism businesses of all sizes and forms which operate from the beach playgrounds of Port Stephens and the Great Lakes. Paterson is also a popular location for campers, fishermen, food and wine connoisseurs. Many of these businesses pioneered eco-tourism ventures such as whale-watching and continue to innovate in environmental best-practice.
