GREENS’ TRUE COLOURS

TO SHOW IN SENATE

Bob Baldwin, Member for Paterson said The Greens’ true colours would be revealed, after the minority party took the balance of power in the Senate.

“It will now become clearer than ever that Bob Brown has become the co-Prime Minister of Australia,” said Mr Baldwin.

Today is the first Parliamentary sitting day since the 1 July change in the Senate, which means that Labor and The Greens now have the power to pass their extreme ideas into law, without the need to consult with the Coalition or Independents.

“The true agenda of The Greens will now be revealed, with Bob Brown pulling the strings in both the Senate and in Prime Minister Gillard’s office,” said Mr Baldwin.

“The Greens’ agenda includes a $100 per tonne price on carbon; legalisation of cannabis; creation of “reception centres” which allow illegal immigrants to exit and enter freely; abolition of the private health insurance rebate and a new income tax bracket of 50%.

“Considering that Treasury modelling shows a $30 per tonne price on carbon would add $860 to the average annual household bills and cost thousands of jobs, a $100 per tonne price would cripple Hunter families.

“We simply cannot afford to let The Greens run rampant, because their list of priorities does not include the family budget, Australian economy, or jobs in Paterson,” said Mr Baldwin.

Mr Baldwin repeated his call for an early election to let local people decide if they want Bob Brown in power.

“Julia Gillard needs to call an election now to let people have their say on the Labor Green Alliance and its carbon tax,” said Mr Baldwin.
