 BOB BALDWIN SECURES HEALTH UPGRADES

IN THE GREAT LAKES

Bob Baldwin, Member for Paterson has announced that a Coalition Government will invest $780,000 in health infrastructure for the Great Lakes.

Under a Coalition Government, Cape Hawke Community Hospital and Health Association (lessors of Forster Private Hospital) will receive $750,000 to build a hydrotherapy pool.

“This is an important piece of health infrastructure which will support a variety of patients with a variety of health needs,” said Mr Baldwin.

“Importantly, the pool would be available to the general public as well as public and private inpatients.

“The Gillard Labor Government rejected funding for this worthwhile project under the latest round of the National Rural and Remote Health Infrastructure Program, however the Coalition will deliver,” said Mr Baldwin.

A Coalition Government will also provide for the establishment of a chemotherapy unit at Forster Private Hospital.

“A Coalition Government will invest $30,000 to establish a local chemotherapy unit, which includes the cost of computer systems, refrigeration, intravenous pumps and arm chairs,” said Mr Baldwin.

Karon Devenish, General Manager of Forster Private Hospital warmly welcomed today’s announcement.

“This is fantastic news for the local community which has been working hard on fundraising. This investment will ensure that patients can access services close to home, with the support of family and friends nearby, without having to travel to Taree, Port Macquarie, Newcastle or Sydney,” said Karon Devenish.

This commitment builds on the initiatives already announced by the Coalition Government, which include increased Medicare rebates for after-hours and extended consultations. A Coalition Government will also provide GP surgeries with grants to expand their services.
