DON’T BE FOOLED BY RUDD’S LATEST BACKDOWN

Bob Baldwin, Member for Paterson has warned locals not to be fooled by the Prime Minister’s delay of the ETS until 2013.

‘Kevin Rudd has backed down on his CPRS knowing that people are furious about his big new tax on everything which will send grocery and power bills through the roof,’ said Mr Baldwin.

‘But make no mistake, this back down is temporary, designed only to win votes: the Rudd Labor Government still intends to inflict this devastating tax on the Australian people.

‘Not only will this tax increase everyday household costs by $1100 per annum per home , it will also cost the Hunter 17,000 jobs by 2025 according to the New South Wales Labor Government’s own report commissioned through Access Economics,’ said Mr Baldwin.

In March 2007, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd declared, “climate change is the great moral challenge of our generation.”

In 2008, Mr Rudd went on to say, “to delay any longer would be reckless and irresponsible for our economy and for our environment.”

‘It is now clear that this was yet more spin from Kevin Rudd’ said Mr Baldwin.

‘This is another broken promise, just like the 222 childcare centres which will never be built; just like the home insulation scheme which will never be reinstated, just like the laptops which have not yet been delivered to students, just like Labor’s promise to stop the flow of illegal boats.’
