CONVOY OF NO CONFIDENCE:

DRIVEN BY DISAPPOINTMENT

Bob Baldwin, Member for Paterson said residents of Paterson had lost confidence in the Gillard/Brown/Oakeshott/Windsor Government after a string of failures and deceit.

“I am not surprised the people of Paterson have lost confidence in this Government, which has presided over failure after failure,” said Mr Baldwin.

“People want to have the say they didn’t get in August 2010 because Julia Gillard looked them in the eye and said, ‘There will be no carbon tax under the Government I lead.’

“Whether it’s dodgy home insulation, the school halls rip off, failed GroceryWatch and FuelWatch schemes, the border protection cost blowout or rising living costs – Labor simply cannot get it right.

“Julia Gillard also cannot manage honesty. She said there would be no carbon tax. She said she would crack down on people smuggling. She said she would stop taxpayer-funded Government advertising. She said she would lower the cost of living. Ms Gillard has done none of these things.

“I can’t say I am surprised at the level of anger in my electorate,” said Mr Baldwin.

Mr Baldwin’s mobile office caravan will be driven from Raymond Terrace to Canberra from Sunday 21 August as part of the Convoy of No Confidence, which has been organised by disenfranchised businesspeople to show their loss of faith in the current Labor/Greens Government. Others are welcome to join the convoy.

“Ms Gillard seems content to overlook the plight of Australians for the next three years, but this convoy will send a message that is hard to ignore.

“Locals deserve to have their say on the carbon tax with an election – and that is what they will be demanding,” said Mr Baldwin.
