I have started a petition to pressure the New South Wales and Federal Labor Governments to provide more funding to train extra paramedics. These Governments would like to use volunteers instead of trained medical professionals to drive ambulances in Stroud, Dungog, Bulahdelah and Gloucester, just to save a few dollars. However, while volunteers are the soul of our community, they should not have to take the place of expert medical professionals who can make the difference between life and death. Ambulance services should be the same regardless of whether you live in the city or in a regional area and I am fighting hard to ensure this is the case.
