PATERSON PROMISES ON AGENDA
AS PARLIAMENT RESUMES
Bob Baldwin, Member for Paterson said he will be focussed on holding the Gillard Labor Government to account on its promises for Paterson, as Parliament resumes this week.
Mr Baldwin will be officially sworn in today as Member for Paterson, having already been appointed as Shadow Minister for Regional Development and Shadow Minister for Tourism.
“The Gillard Labor Government made promises to the people of the Paterson electorate and I will be putting the pressure on to make sure it delivers those promises as soon as possible,” said Mr Baldwin.
“Labor must now deliver $2.2m for the redevelopment of Birubi Point Surf Lifesaving Club and $1.25m to improve water quality in the Great Lakes.
“Labor must give residents around RAAF Base Williamtown and Defence personnel alike some certainty by immediately repealing and replacing ANEF2025 together with noise mitigation measures.
“Labor must properly and adequately consult with local people to get the balance right, before implementing any Commonwealth Marine Protected Areas,” said Mr Baldwin.
Labor also pledged up to $7m for a GP Superclinic in Raymond Terrace, but after discussions with local health providers, Mr Baldwin said those millions should instead be divided and invested in three areas of need:
· GP services for Dungog/Clarence Town
· To start work on the HealthOne clinic in Raymond Terrace
· A GP clinic in the Medowie/Salt Ash area.
Mr Baldwin said he would also be pressing the Gillard Labor Government to deliver his election promises, including a hydrotherapy pool and chemotherapy unit in Forster; digital television upgrades; Wallalong and Paterson skate parks; road improvements; funding for CCTV; and a new landing system and extended runway at RAAF Base Williamtown.
“The Gillard Labor Government has become synonymous with broken promises, but I am determined to drag it, kicking and screaming if necessary, to deliver in Paterson,” said Mr Baldwin.
