LABOR 150 DAYS PAST ANEF DEADLINE
BUT PORT STEPHENS STILL WAITING
Bob Baldwin, Member for Paterson said Labor’s promise to replace the Australian Noise Exposure Forecast 2025 was now 150 days overdue.
“On 2 August 2010 Labor’s then Defence Minister and candidate for Paterson issued a joint press release in which they promised to lift and replace the ANEF2025 by the end of the year,” said Mr Baldwin.
“That did not happen.
“It is now 301 days since that promise was made and the Gillard Labor Government is 150 days past its own deadline, yet Labor has done absolutely nothing.
“Worse still, Julia Gillard and Senator David Feeney seem completely unfazed about their broken promise to the people of Paterson,” said Mr Baldwin.
Mr Baldwin also noted that Labor’s Budget 2011-12 included details for the establishment of a Williamtown Aircraft Noise Strategic Taskforce. The budget then states:
This measure delivers on the Government’s election commitment.

“If Gillard and Feeney think that a new Taskforce delivers on their aircraft noise commitment, they are either seriously mistaken or just don’t care,” said Mr Baldwin.
“The people of Port Stephens need some certainty on their property rights and they deserve the new ANEF2025 that Labor promised.
“It might be 150 days late but we still expect delivery - it’s a case of much better late than never,” said Mr Baldwin.
