MEDIA RELEASE: FUNDING AVAILABLE TO HELP PATERSON'S YOUNG SPORTS STARS

10 Dec 2010   Bob Baldwin
         FUNDING AVAILABLE TO HELP
        PATERSON’S YOUNG SPORTS STARS

Bob Baldwin, Member for Paterson has encouraged rising sports stars in the Paterson electorate to apply for funding under the latest round of the Local Sporting Champions Program (LSCP).

“The LSCP offers grants of up to $500 for individuals and $3000 for teams to help them compete in official sporting competitions,” said Mr Baldwin.

“If you’re aged between 12 and 18 you can apply for a grant to help with the costs of travel, accommodation, uniforms and equipment.”

Mr Baldwin acknowledged the important role sport plays in Australian culture; however he also noted the financial burdens associated with competition.

“Sport is a fantastic way to meet friends, stay active and enjoy yourself, but it can become quite costly.

“That’s why I would encourage young people across Paterson to submit an application, it doesn’t take long and could be done during the holiday break from school work,” said Mr Baldwin.

Mr Baldwin said that application forms could be downloaded direct from the Australian Sport Commission website:

Alternatively, residents can phone his office toll free on 1300 656 840 to have a copy of the form posted out.

Applications for the current round of grants close 28 February 2011.
