Bob Baldwin, Member for Paterson has announced that a Coalition Government will support the youth communities around Wallalong and Paterson by providing $110,000 to build skate parks.
Mr Baldwin met with Mayor of Dungog Glenn Wall, Paterson Progress Association, local residents and children at Tucker Park this afternoon to deliver the news.
“A Coalition Government will provide $50,000 to help build the Paterson Skate Park,” said Mr Baldwin.
“Together with the $25,000 already committed by Dungog Shire Council, this funding will ensure that a high quality skate park can be delivered.
“Skate parks provide a safe and social environment for kids to engage in sport, stay active and enjoy themselves,” said Mr Baldwin.
Mr Baldwin also travelled to Wallalong to meet with residents including 10 year old Dean Ayscough, who wrote to him earlier in the year asking for help to build a skate park so that he wouldn’t have to ride his scooter on the road.
“I was inspired by Dean’s passion when I met with him and dozens of his friends earlier this year,” said Mr Baldwin.
“He and his friends have worked hard on a petition and plans to care for the skatepark, which they posted to a Facebook group I established on this issue.
“I’m delighted to make a $60,000 commitment to Dean and the rest of the local community which has rallied behind him, to bring the Wallalong Skate Park to fruition,” said Mr Baldwin.
