Bob Baldwin, Member for Paterson has laughed off suggestions that a Coalition Government would cancel funding for the Hunter Expressway.
“In Question Time today, Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Anthony Albanese falsely claimed that funding for the Hunter Expressway could be in jeopardy if a Coalition Government was elected,” said Mr. Baldwin.
“This is absolute nonsense.
“In November 2009, Minister Albanese announced the selection of a private sector consortium that would partner with the RTA to build the eastern section of the Hunter Expressway.
“The consortium includes Thiess Pty Ltd, Parsons Brinckerhoff and Hyder Consulting.
“For the Minister and Member for Hunter to indicate that these contracts are now in doubt is stupid, misleading and a very dirty tactic.
“Shadow Finance Minister Andrew Robb has made it perfectly clear that the Hunter Expressway is not under threat and both Mr Fitzgibbon and Mr Albanese know this.
“This is a sign of a desperate Government that knows it has lost Hunter votes due to its reckless emissions trading and super mining taxes.
“A Coalition Government is not in the business of canceling contracts and would see this project through,” said Mr. Baldwin.
