Bob Baldwin, Member for Paterson will travel to Pacific Palms tomorrow (1 April) to celebrate the launch of the $2.09 million Great LakesWater Quality Improvement Plan.

The Plan outlines what action should be taken to rehabilitate and protect Wallis, Smiths and Myall Lakes. It also celebrates the work that hasalready been done.

“Of course water is key to our survival; but it also contributes to tourism, sport, leisure and makes our area the beautiful place it is,” said Mr Baldwin.

“That is why it is vital we work together to make sure we protectand enhance our waterways, not only for ourselves but for generations to come.”

The Plan follows two years research and modelling by Great LakesCouncil and the Coastal Catchment Initiative Advisory Committee.

“This is a detailed and practical plan which will allow the community, Local, State and Federal Governments to work together to protect one of our most valuable resources,” said Mr Baldwin.

“It also gives us the opportunity to remember we all play a partin keeping our waters beautiful.

“There are many things you can do to contribute, such as using asink strainer, disposing of chemicals properly, putting rubbish in the bin andraking up leaves whenever possible,” said Mr Baldwin.

The launch begins at 11am at Sundowner Tiona Conference Centre,The Lakes Way, Pacific Palms.
